DENVER ( KDVR ) — Multiple wildfires that burned through Colorado in early August are almost all contained and much-needed rain is coming in, but there are still areas with severe-to-extreme drought conditions across the Front Range.
Despite the seemingly cool conditions on Thursday and into the weekend, Boulder is under extreme drought conditions while areas like Fort Collins and Arvada are in severe drought conditions.
The last time Colorado had extreme drought conditions was in early February for southern Colorado, near Alamosa.
According to the National Weather Service , extreme drought means there are major crop and pasture losses and shortages of water in reservoirs, streams and wells creating water emergencies.
Meanwhile, severe drought means crop and pasture losses are likely, water shortages are common and water restrictions are imposed.
