Panhandle Region Faces Daily Thunderstorms Through Mid-Week

Low Severe Weather Risk, But Flash Flooding Possible

Amarillo, TXThe National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, highlighting the potential for daily thunderstorms from Friday through Wednesday. While the probability of severe storms remains low, there is a concern that moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to isolated flash flooding in some areas.

Thunderstorms Expected to Continue

Thunderstorms are forecasted to develop across the Panhandle region each day through mid-week, with the highest risk occurring from Friday onward. According to the NWS, while these storms are not expected to reach severe levels, the cumulative effect of repeated storms could result in localized flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage or where soil saturation is already high.

“The probability for severe thunderstorms is low at this time. However, moderate to heavy rainfall may lead to isolated areas of flash flooding,” the NWS stated. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about local weather conditions and be prepared for sudden changes.
