Sarasota Orchestra working to pick architect for new music center

A little more than a year ago, the orchestra closed on the purchase of a 32-acre tract just west of Interstate 75. The property is still covered with brush and grass, and it will likely be early 2026 before design plans are completed and construction can begin.

The orchestra’s building committee has been studying proposals from more than a dozen firms that might be chosen as the design architect to create the building’s overall look, though the committee decided not to publicly identify the companies.
