Power outages across Hampton Roads amid Friday morning storms

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Several areas across the Hampton Roads region are experiencing power outages Friday morning.

According to Dominion Energy, as of 8:15 a.m., about 2,400 customers are without power in the Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Elizabeth City area. This is down from over 13,000 outages from overnight.

Crews with Dominion Energy state the cause of the outages are from severe weather in the morning.

From 6:35-7 a.m., the City of Suffolk and Isle of Wight County were under a Tornado Warning. City of Suffolk officials told 10 On Your Side the storm caused a downed powerline in the 200 block of North Capital Street.

Officials from both York and Hampton said they have no reports of trees down or damage from the storm.
