SWAT standoff in Spokane’s Emerson-Garfield neighborhood

SPOKANE, Wash. — A SWAT standoff took place in North Spokane on Thursday evening, according to Spokane Police Department.

Around 7 p.m. on August 8, police and SWAT responded to a home near Washington Street and Mansfield Avenue in the Emerson-Garfield neighborhood.

SPD said they believe the situation was related to a shooting near Monroe Street and Mansfield Avenue that happened on Thursday afternoon.

The standoff ended around 9:30 p.m., but no information as to how it ended was provided.

SPD said they would keep the intersection closed for at least another hour to process the scene.
