TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Body camera footage released Friday by the Tampa Police Department shows the “terrifying” moments inside of a Tampa apartment after an 18-year-old barricaded himself inside.
Police were called to the Meridian Pointe apartment complex at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday after a woman felt threatened and said that Damarion Murray, 18, was following her. TPD said there was a previous investigation regarding harassing phone calls from Murray to the woman.
Murray pulled out a gun and fired shots at the woman as he chased her into an apartment, eventually holding her at gunpoint, according to police. The woman was not hit.
Murray reportedly called a family member and said “Either she dies, or I die,” according to police. The family member tried to tell him to let everyone leave.
He ran into a back room of the apartment, which had four other adults and three juveniles inside, police said. Officers forced their way into the apartment, and while standing in the hallway heard two gunshots.
