Horry County nightclub owner, manager sued over deadly April parking lot shooting

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The owner of a popular Horry County nightclub for years ignored escalating acts of violence that ultimately led to the April death of a North Carolina man who was shot and killed in its parking lot last April, according to newly filed lawsuit.

Jadis Nelson, 22, of Rockingham, died April 24 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center nearly three weeks after being shot outside of 3001 Nightlife on Lake Arrowhead Road in Horry County April 7.

A 10-page complaint filed Friday in Horry County Common Pleas Court names Lake Arrowhead Ventures, LLC, the on-duty manager when the shooting happens and five unnamed employees as defendants.

Nelson’s estate is suing on grounds of negligence and seeking a jury trial for unspecified damages, according to the suit.

Lake Arrowhead Ventures LLC is registered to Roger Davisson, who owns 3001 Nightlife.

“Within the five years leading up to the (incident), Defendants had actual or constructive knowledge (of) shootings, fights, trespassing, drug activity, assaults, robberies, loitering and disturbances occurring at the premises and/or in the immediate surrounding area,” the lawsuit claims. “This included a shooting in the parking lot that occurred less than two months prior.”
