Caltrain has launched its new electric trains, marking the transition from diesel and introducing many improvements for Bay Area commuters. The VIP tour of the new fleet took place on Thursday. It was well-attended by an ensemble of federal, state, and local officials who have been advocates of the transformative Caltrain Electrification Project, according to Caltrain’s official news release. The public can anticipate taking their first regular ride on these trains today, just ahead of the full-service beginning on September 21.
