Ramon Jefferson delivered for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers late in Saturday’s preseason opener, rumbling into the end zone for a three-yard touchdown and giving the visitors a 17-14 lead.
The score put the Bucs back in front after a go-ahead score by the Bengals on the preceding drive. For the second time in Saturday’s game, a strong carry on the ground provided six points for the Tampa Bay offense.
Rookie Bucky Irving got in on the action first for the Bucs before Jefferson tallied this score in the waning minutes.
Wolford marched Tampa Bay down the field, commanding the offense through the air on an eight play 69-yard drive that ended with Jefferson’s carry.
The go-ahead drive ironically appeared quite similar to the Bucs’ game-tying drive in the first quarter where a handful of big plays through the passing game set up a touchdown run.
