Tropical wave likely to become depression within the next couple of days

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The tropical disturbance in the Atlantic is likely to form into a depression early this week, the National Hurricane Center said on Sunday.

As of 8 a.m., the system has a 90% chance of development within the next seven days and has ramped up to a 70% chance within 48 hours.

The wave, which is located roughly 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, continues to show signs of organization.

The NHC said it’s expected to move westward at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic as it gradually develops.
