Woodburn crowns new Fiesta Queen ahead of 60th annual Fiesta Mexicana

Ahead of the 60th anniversary of Woodburn’s Fiesta Mexicana, a new queen has been crowned.

In the weeks leading up to Woodburn’s largest annual event, Marion County area juniors and seniors apply for a seat on the Fiesta Mexicana Court and participate in a slew of community service activities. Then, a Fiesta Queen and a First Princess are chosen from the cohort. This year, 10 candidates vied for the title.

“Fiesta Court is a leadership development program that provides participants the opportunity to develop their existing skills as well as introduces new opportunities to learn and grow, empowering the next generation of leaders to be skilled and compassionate,” Woodburn Community Relations Manager Yanira Herrera said in a previous interview. “Many of the youth serving on this year’s Fiesta Court are first generation students who have a passion for sharing their culture and giving back to their community.”

In front of their family and friends at the coronation ceremony Saturday, Aug. 10, Irene Rodriguez Estrada was crowned the 2024 Festival Queen and Yatzil Morales was given the title of First Princess.
