Syracuse apartment fire leaves one person without a home

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – One person is being helped by the Red Cross after a fire caused smoke and water damage in their Syracuse apartment. On Friday night the Syracuse Fire Department was called to 159 Ballantyne Road for reports of a fire at Ballantyne Garden Apartments. When crews from station 18 arrived on scene, heavy smoke was seen coming from a window on the first floor of the three-story apartment building. Firefighters used hoses to aid in the search of the fire in the impacted apartment. All of the residents were able to escape safely prior to first responders’ arrival. No injuries were reported.
