2nd Sunday on King Street: Charleston’s monthly celebration returns

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – As Tropical Storm Debby clears out and Charleston slowly begins to dry out, the city’s beloved 2nd Sunday on King Street returns to offer a welcome escape.

On the second Sunday of every month, King Street is closed to traffic from Queen to Calhoun streets, transforming the historic road into a pedestrian-friendly haven. From noon to 5:00 p.m., visitors can stroll down the street, exploring shops, enjoying delicious food, and soaking in the lively atmosphere.

This beloved Charleston tradition invites people to walk the historic street, discover new businesses, and interact with local artists and vendors who set up shop along the way. Without the hindrance of parked cars or through traffic, the street becomes a lively gathering place, where friends and neighbors can meet and enjoy the best that the city has to offer.

This month’s 2nd Sunday features Aaron Baldwin, a talented painter and printmaker from McClellanville. Aaron’s work, which celebrates the beauty of the Lowcountry, will be showcased at the 2nd Sunday Tent near the Apple Store at 301 King Street. Be sure to stop by and see his original hand-pulled linocuts from his studio, Woods and Creek.
