21 New York firefighters who were sent to battle fires in other states are welcomed home by Gov. Hochul

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – After spending two weeks battling blazes in Oregon and Montana, Gov. Kathy Hochul welcomed back 21 firefighters to the Empire State. The firefighters, who were specifically “wildland firefighters led by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers” according to a written statement, spent days on end clashing with Montana’s Grouse Fire and Oregon’s Red Fire.
