Louisiana among most deadliest states to live in, study says

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — New homicide data ranks Louisiana among the top 10 deadliest states to live in.

Zinda Law Group ’s personal injury attorneys analyzed homicide rates by comparing the number of homicides to the population in each state to identify the deadliest states.

“The high homicide rate in these states is a complex issue with multifaceted causes. Historical injustices, socioeconomic disparities, and lack of access to resources play significant roles,” said a spokesperson from Zinda Law Group. “These findings offer a fascinating insight into where homicide rates are significantly higher than others and where more concern and caution should be taken, both from authorities and individuals alike.”

The study found that Louisiana has the second-highest homicide rate in the nation, with 19.8 homicides per 100,000 people.

Mississippi leads the list, reporting 576 homicides in 2022, translating to 20.7 homicides per 100,000 residents.
