Mom accused of using stun gun on autistic son said she previously used pepper spray, kept him locked up

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of using a stun gun on her 23-year-old autistic son during a visit to Kern Medical told investigators she previously pepper-sprayed him and keeps him locked in his bedroom, releasing him only to eat, bathe and use the bathroom.

Police searched her home and found the son’s room bare of furniture and smelling of human waste, according to a court filing.

“(Armijo) expressed surprise that hospital personnel reported her to the police as she believed they had no issues with her using the stun gun on (her son), as she had used it the day prior in the emergency room waiting room,” the filing says.

Tisa Armijo is charged with felony counts of causing injury to a dependent adult and false imprisonment with violence, and a misdemeanor count of being a felon in possession of a stun gun.
