Kern County firefighters fight grass fire near Tehachapi, forces road closure

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Firefighters with the Kern County Fire Department are working on containing a fire near Tehachapi Willow Springs Road Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 10:18 a.m. on Tehachapi Willow Springs Road, Sandlin Court and Oak Creek Road, according to officials. Officials said the fire has burned approximately 266 acres so far.

Tehachapi Willow Springs Road is closed between Oak Creek and Backus roads.

The fire is called the Turbine Fire, according to fire officials.
