Baby formula sold in CVS, H-E-B stores in 12 states, including Virginia is recalled

( WHTM ) — Thousands of cans of powdered baby formula sold at CVS and H-E-B grocery stores across 12 states are under recall, the Food and Drug Administration announced Thursday.

According to the recall , Perrigo Company has issued a voluntary recall of 16,500 cans of store brand Premium Infant Formula with Iron Milk-Based Powder, due to the increased levels of Vitamin D, which is above the maximum level permitted.

The recalled product was shipped to H-E-B Grocery Company, LP in Texas and to CVS in the following states: Texas, Florida, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Missouri.

No other products from the company are impacted by the recall.

The FDA says there have been no reports of adverse events to date that are attributed to the elevated levels of Vitamin D.
