A former nursing home is being transformed into a new hotel in Richmond, Virginia

WRIC 8 News reported that an old building in Richmond’s Fan District will be transformed into a new hotel.

The new hotel

Ash CEO and Co-Founder Ari Heckman revealed that the beautiful brick building now known as “Shenandoah Mansions” continues to be renovated every day near Monument Avenue.

When Heckman was looking for a new place to open a hotel, he decided on the historic 1900s historic 1900’s building on North Allen Avenue in Richmond that once served as a nursing home.

Heckman said:

“I like for each space in the hotel to kind of tell a story. You kind of feel like you’re going on an adventure or a journey as you wander through the property.”

Plans for the new hotel

“Shenandoah Mansions” will have 73 rooms and four opulent suites, each opening guests up to a new story. The rooms and suites are richly furnished with regal mahogany four-poster beds and antique furnishings imported from Europe.

The new hotel will also have a cocktail bar, a convivial restaurant, a daily cafe, and a retail store.
