‘He was the type of guy that cared a lot’: Mural on Melvindale business memorializes slain officer Mohamed Said

MELVINDALE (WWJ) — Mohamed Said, the Melvindale police officer who was killed in the line of duty last month, is being memorialized at a local business.

A mural on the side of Magic Touch Collision on Allen Road is now complete that depicts the badge of Mohammed Said, his end of watch date, and the phrase “In Loving Memory.”

Said’s partner, Mohammed Hacham, told WWJ’s Tim Pamplin in an interview that Said was an officer that cared deeply for the community of Melvindale.

“He was the type of guy that cared a lot about the police department, cared about the vision of the PD, cared about what people had to say and how the kids feel and how the community feels. He was just out there trying to make sure the city is good.

Said was gunned down while in the line of duty last month. He was on the police force for only about a year. The suspected gunman is facing a litany of charges.
