Oregon is among the worst states to live in, according to WalletHub

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – As millions of Americans across the United States move every year, a new WalletHub report analyzed the best and worst places to live — ranking Oregon among the top 10 worst states.

In a report published Monday, WalletHub compared 50 states across dozens of livability factors from housing costs and income growth to education rates and hospital systems.

Overall, Oregon was ranked the ninth worst state to live in.

A big factor for the ranking was based on housing as Oregon ranked 48 for housing costs and 42 for homeownership rates.

Other states with the highest housing costs include Florida, Nevada, Hawaii, and California, according to WalletHub.

Additionally, Oregon ranked 32 for the percent of adults in fair or poor health, 26 for the percent of population in poverty, and 19 for the percent of people who are insured.

“Oregon’s ranking as the 9th worst state to live in is a result of several key factors that negatively affect its overall livability. The state struggles significantly with affordability, ranking 48th in housing costs, making it one of the most expensive places to own a home,” said Chip Lupo of WalletHub.
