RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Efforts are underway to make beach umbrellas safer. New standards are being developed that would make sure the umbrellas stay anchored in the ground. That’s after recent accidents gained national attention. One Richmond man who lost an eye on the beach is playing a key role in the process.
