Horry County Schools hires new head of security days before new school year

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Horry County Schools now has a new head of security days before the new school year is set to begin. The district announced late Monday that Mike Frederick is the new HCS Executive Director of Safety and Security. HCS said Frederick has over 30 years of law enforcement and public safety experience, including serving as Chief of Law Enforcement for the South Carolina Public Service Authority, also known as Santee Cooper, for 10 years.
