Twenty-six-year-old Colby Joseph Manley of Cedar Rapids was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison earlier this month. Manley, was sentenced in reference to a guilty plea in January of this year to four counts of distribution and aiding and abetting the distribution of a controlled substance, and two subsequent counts of distribution of a controlled substance, stemming from an incident in April of 2022 where Manley distributed fentanyl to other person, and that person overdosed and died while using the drugs. Following the death, Manley was also documented selling pills to undercover officers a half dozen times between December of 2022 and February of 2023.
