Fall is nearly afoot as CSU welcomes students moving into dorms

Boxes, trucks and trailers were everywhere Monday at Colorado State University as parents, siblings and friends began helping students move into residence halls for the fall semester.

About 2,600 students were scheduled to move in Monday to their assigned residence halls, school spokesperson Tiana Kennedy said. More than 6,000 students will move into residence halls and other university housing this week.

Although one of the university’s largest residence halls, the 12-story Durward Hall is being remodeled and will not be in use during the 2024-25 school year, university spokesperson Nik Olsen said all incoming students who signed up to live in a residence hall will be accommodated in on-campus housing.

CSU had to house some students in a motel across the street from campus two years ago, when the other 12-story residence hall, Westfall, was being remodeled.

Fall-semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 19.

CSU’s total enrollment last fall was a record 33,648 , according to figures shared in October with the CSU System Board of Governors and later posted on the university’s website. The official count for the 2024-25 school year will not be available until late September or October.
