Bakersfield man charged with murder in woman’s death

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Bakersfield man is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the death of a woman who was found critically injured on Aug. 4 and died days later.

Ricardo Valles, 39, has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. He’s due back in court on Aug. 22.

Police were called to the 400 block of 20th Street early Aug. 4 and found a woman injured and unconscious, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release. She was taken to Kern Medical, where she died on Aug. 8.

Her name has not been released.
