OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Oklahoma House Republican sources tell News 4 they’re gaining confidence they can get the needed amount of 51 Republicans to sign a letter calling for a special investigation of State Superintendent Ryan Walters, in part, because their constituents are calling on them to do so.
As of Tuesday evening, 22 Oklahoma House Republican members have signed a letter to House Speaker Charles McCall calling on him to form a special committee to investigate the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) and whether State Superintendent Ryan Walters had committed impeachable offenses.
On Tuesday morning, only 17 Republicans had signed the letter. At that time, House Speaker Charles McCall (R-Atoka) sent house members a memo, letting them know he would not consider forming a special investigative committee unless at least 51 Republicans had signed the letter.
