Antioch man arrested for killing friend’s dog, three other shootings: PD

( KRON ) — The Antioch Police Department arrested a man on Aug. 7 who was connected to multiple shootings. Police said Francisco Hernandez, 23, of Antioch, killed his friend’s dog over a dispute in one of four shootings committed in the span of several weeks.

Just before midnight on Aug. 7, an APD officer saw an Infiniti doing donuts at the intersection of Buchanan Road and Contra Loma Boulevard. The officer approached the car, and the driver took off.

The car went a short distance before it crashed into a parked car on Cortez Court, police said. The officer arrested Hernandez.

The Infiniti was reported stolen and Hernandez had multiple open warrants. Police said he was connected to four shootings that happened in the span of 18 days:

  • July 15: Hernandez is accused of shooting and killing his friend’s dog on the 2300 block of Cypress Street during an argument. He fled the scene in a stolen car.
  • July 16: Police say Hernandez shot at a person who interrupted a car burglary at Lucena Way and Lopez Drive. He again fled the scene in a stolen car.
  • July 31: Hernandez again shot at someone who interrupted a car theft, per APD, and again drove off in a stolen car. This shooting happened on the 3800 block of Rockford Drive.
  • August 1: Hernandez allegedly shot at someone after a dispute at 2201 San Jose Drive.
