SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — People who live in the City of Syracuse will be getting letters in the mail with important information about test results from drinking water in a small number of homes.
Drinking water at 27 houses, sporadically located across Syracuse, have tested positive for lead at a level that the EPA requires the City of Syracuse to notify its customers.

While new for the City of Syracuse, the discovery is somewhat common for cities with aging infrastuctures.
Every six months, the city sends out water sample test kits to volunteering homes that are serviced by lead pipes. In these cases, otherwise clean drinking water passes through the lead pipes at either city pipes under the street or the home’s plumbing.
