Albuquerque BioPark hosting Japanese Obon Festival

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque BioPark and Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation are teaming up to put on a night of Japanese arts and culture celebrating Obon. The Obon Festival will be August 16, from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Sasebo Japanese Garden at the Albuquerque BioPark.

Guests will have a chance to enjoy Japanese refreshments, cuisine, make their own origami art and release lanterns to commemorate a loved one. Attendees will be able to observe a traditional tea ceremony, taiko drumming, calligraphy, shamisen and bonsai displays. Guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance.
