ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jamil Lewis , charged with murder and other charges related to a shooting of two brothers that left one dead, will remain behind bars while awaiting trial.

102nd Annual Indian Market happening in Santa Fe this weekend

According to court records, in June Lewis and another man were fighting with Gerald and Edward Ibuado near Indiana and Cochiti in Albuquerque. Witnesses say Lewis pulled out a gun and shot the brothers, killing Gerald and injuring Edward. The state says multiple witnesses saw the shooting and said Lewis escalated the situation by using a gun. Lewis’ lawyer claims you can’t tell who the shooter is in the surveillance photos and that witnesses were biased.

Judge Britt Baca Miller granted the state’s motion for pretrial detention and Lewis will be held behind bars through his trial.
