Richmond man with previous conviction sentenced for possessing pistol

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man was sentenced to three years in federal prison today after being found in possession of a firearm while having had a previous firearm conviction.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Henrico County Division of Police officers responded to an apartment complex on Henrico Arms Place on Oct. 3, 2023, for a report of a fight.

When the officers got to the scene, a woman who was not involved in the fight told them that she had been assaulted by 39-year-old Jamie Louis Cook. When the officers tried to detain Cook, he ran away from them while dropping a 9mm pistol he had in his waistband.
