4 cats unaccounted for after house fire that displace owners and pets in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk fire-rescue responded to the 1900 block of Norview Avenue on Wednesday for a house fire near the airport, officials said.

The call came in just before 12:30 p.m. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the roof of a two-story single family home. The fire had spread into the attic and second floor when crews made entry.

No injuries were reported. Two residents and their dog were able to escape safely, but four cats are unaccounted for. Three adults and their pets are displaced.

The fire also impacted airport traffic at Norfolk International Airport. This caused some delays for traffic to and from the airport.
