Hurricane Ernesto expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to Bermuda

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hurricane Ernesto is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Bermuda throughout the weekend and could result in life-threatening flash flooding, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Storm surge and strong winds are expected on Bermuda starting this afternoon and will continue until Saturday night.

A Hurricane warning is in effect for Bermuda.

Hurricane Ernesto is expected to pass near or over Bermuda on Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Winds remain near 100 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is likely within the next few days.

A storm surge is expected to produce coastal flooding in areas. The storm surge will bring large waves near the coast.

Hurricane Ernesto is expected to bring 6 to 12 inches of total rainfall to Bermuda with a maximum of 15 inches.
