If you would like to have a closer look at just how a police department operates and learn more about local law enforcement and what it’s like to work in public safety, then the Newberg-Dundee Police Department has just the thing for you.
The Newberg-Dundee Citizens Academy will begin Sept. 17 and continue from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday (and one Saturday) through Nov. 19.
Training includes insights on department operations, officer survival skills and firearms, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and scenario-based training.
“The Citizen Academy is a great way to get to know your local police department,” a release from the agency said. “Each week there will be presentations on the different aspects of the police department. There will be some hands-on activities too.”
Enrollees much be a minimum of 18 years old and must pass a background check, with preference given to Newberg and Dundee residents. Class size is limited.
