FBI raids business in connection with plot to kill Miami car designer to the stars

The FBI Friday morning raided a Doral body shop in connection to its investigation of the plot to kill Alex Vega, a famed Miami car designer to the stars, in 2019.

Two men — the gunman and getaway driver — have already been convicted of carrying out the plot to kill Vega, who was shot as he pulled into his Kendale Lakes driveway in his black Range Rover on Aug. 27, 2019.

Prosecutors have not yet charged the person who paid for the attempted murder but law enforcement sources told The Miami Herald that an indictment is expected soon in the case.

On Friday, federal agents swarmed Doral Collision, according to a source close to the investigation. A Miami Herald photographer on the scene also confirmed an on-going raid were at the business. A number of Doral Police Department cars were parked outside.

Vega is the owner of the Auto Firm, a Kendall business that designs sports cars renovations to many high-profile celebrities, including Grammy-award winning singer Marc Anthony.

The man feds said shot Vega three times, 27-year-old Julian Jimenez, pleaded guilty to his part in the murder attempt and a judge sentenced him to 35 years in prison in November.
