Houston men sentenced in Lake Charles jewelry store robbery case

LAKE CHARLES, La. ( KLFY ) — Four Houston men were sentenced for their roles in the armed robbery of more than 30 Rolex watches from Nederland Jewelers in Lake Charles.

Phaezon Stewart, Joshua Evans, Cary S. Nimmons Jr. and Johnson Moore each pleaded guilty to one count of interference with commerce by robbery, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Louisiana.

They were sentenced by U.S. District Judge James D. Cain Jr.

  • Stewart, 24, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release
  • Evans, 35, was sentenced to 11 years and five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release,
  • Nimmons, 32, was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release
  • Moore, 25, was sentenced to 11 years and two months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release

Another co-conspirator, 26-year-old Trevione James Terry, pleaded guilty to interference with commerce by robbery, and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, authorities said. His sentencing is set for Oct. 10 in connection with the Nederland Jewelers robbery as well as the robbery of a jewelry store in Austin, Texas.
