Teen arrested for Wichita road rage shooting sentenced

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The 18-year-old who police say shot two people during a road rage incident in 2023 is headed to prison.

Police said Xavier Becker was the gunman who shot at the victims’ vehicle after an incident between their vehicles near Interstate 235 and Meridian on July 14, 2023. A 17-year-old boy was hit in the upper torso and a 19-year-old man in the leg. The victims were rushed to a hospital and survived.

The Wichita Police Department said social media posts helped them find Becker .

The now 19-year-old pleaded guilty in May to two counts of aggravated battery.

District Judge Tyler Roush sentenced him to 62 months in prison on Friday.
