Bakersfield, Kern County fire departments battle Pendulum Fire in east Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield and Kern County firefighters extinguished a grass fire in east Bakersfield near Alfred Harrell Highway Friday afternoon.

Fire officials were at the scene of Alfred Harrell Highway and Highway 178 for a fire that was reported around 3:33 p.m. The Pendulum Fire has burned 300 acres and is 100% contained.

The fire impacted structures near Sebastiano Drive and Alfred Harrell Highway for some time, but no structure damage was reported, according to Tim Ortiz, Battalion Chief with the Bakersfield Fire Department. No evacuation warnings or orders have been issued.

PG&E reported 2,483 customers were briefly without power in the area. The power outage was reported at 5:16 p.m. on the PG&E power outage website and was resolved around 7 p.m.

The Kern County Fire Department is assisting the Bakersfield Fire Department in this fire.
