PRICHARD, Ala. ( WKRG ) — State Representative Napoleon Bracy of District 98 is proposing future legislation authorizing the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System to take over the Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board.
Bracy believes this is the right step for the disgruntled board, but some citizens believe that other options still need to be weighed.

“One thing that we know for sure, the current system in the way that it is right now does not work,” Bracy said. “None of the citizens appear to be happy and satisfied with the current system. So, something has to happen.”
He’s proposing legislation for MAWSS to take over PWWSB by letting the citizens vote for the future of the board.
“Well, the legislation would have to be a constitutional amendment that would be proposed in Alabama legislature that would allow the citizens the opportunity to vote on the fate of the water board,” he explained.
Bracy explained that MAWSS taking over the Prichard Water Board is a highly requested option from citizens; however, not everyone believes that’s the best path to take.
