PALMER, Alaska (KTUU) – The sound of rides roaring and the smell of fair food is back as the Alaska State Fair officially opened to the public Friday. The almost 90-year event officially opened its doors at 11 a.m., and despite the day starting with windy weather, lifelong fair attendee Miranda Mahle said that did not stop her from showing up.
