Missing boater found deceased in Lake Moultrie

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was notified on Sunday at 3:08 p.m. that a missing boater on Lake Moultrie had been found deceased.

The recovery was conducted by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, divers, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The missing boater has been identified as 63-year-old Gerry Wayne Brazel of Summerville. The search efforts, which involved multiple agencies, concluded with the discovery of his body.

Berkeley County EMS, Moncks Corner Police Department, and North Berkeley Fire and Rescue also responded to the incident, providing support during the operation.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, Moncks Corner Police Department, and DNR are investigating.
