VB prosecutor receives Michael R. Doucette Lecturer of Merit Award

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A prosecutor for the City of Virginia Beach was recently awarded by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Services Council.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney C. Andrew Rice was presented with the 2024 Michael R. Doucette Lecturer of Merit Award at the Virginia prosecutors’ conference.

Named after the longtime Commonwealth’s Attorney for Lynchburg, the award recognizes dedicated leadership and a commitment to training fellow prosecutors.

Rice serves on the faculty of several prosecutor training programs including the Prosecutor Bootcamp.

“Virginia needs experienced prosecutors who are willing to devote their time to training fellow
prosecutors,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle said. “Andrew handles some of the most serious cases in the office and maintains a heavy caseload. I appreciate his willingness to travel
around the state teaching others about new caselaw and trial strategies.”

He received his bachelor’s degree from the Virginia Military Institute in 2009 and his juris doctorate (J.D.) from Regent University in 2012.
