Hopewell city leaders and police addressed the community on Wednesday regarding the recent uptick in violent crime plaguing the city. Up until recently, the city was enjoying an overall 40% reduction in violent crime compared to 2023. However, a two-week slew of violence that began with a double homicide during a house party on July 21 cut the decrease to only 2%.
