Man standing outside of crosswalk struck, killed on S Chester Ave: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One man is dead after being struck and killed by a vehicle on South Chester Avenue late Sunday night.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Chester Avenue and Sandra Drive on Sunday around 11:50 p.m. for a vehicle and pedestrian crash.

CHP officer suffers major injuries after being hit by car on Los Angeles freeway

Upon the officer’s arrival, a man was found suffering major injuries. Police say he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner will release the man’s identity at a later time.

Police say the pedestrian was standing outside of a crosswalk at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in this crash.
