Unfortunately, Louisiana leads the nation when it comes to hot car deaths. Leaving children unattended in a vehicle is a serious problem. Last year, 29 children died of heat stroke in vehicles. It stands to reason that the southern US sees a higher number of cases given the higher temperatures. However, Louisiana leads in the greatest number of deaths per capita. This is 2.5 times the national average.
