Winning One Million Dollar Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Virginia

WINCHESTER, VA – Virginia Beach resident Antwain Eason struck it big in the July 23 Mega Millions drawing, winning the game’s $1 million second prize.

According to a press release issued by the Virginia Lottery on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Eason, who purchased his ticket online, matched the first five numbers, narrowly missing the Mega Ball number.

The winning numbers for that draw were 3-9-14-26-51, with the Mega Ball number being 21. His ticket was the only one in Virginia to achieve this, and one of just five nationwide.

“It’s unbelievable! I almost fell to the floor!” Eason exclaimed when he learned of his win.

According to the Virginia Lottery, the Virginia Lottery offers the convenience of buying Mega Millions, Powerball, and other tickets online, alongside dozens of instant games exclusively available online. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.

Virginia Lottery profits support K-12 education in the state. Last fiscal year, Eason’s hometown of Virginia Beach received over $39.7 million in Lottery funds, contributing to the more than $934 million raised statewide for education, according to the Virginia Lottery.
