Authorities say a Salem man, Joseph Sheean, was the wakeboarder who died Aug. 4 in a boating accident on the Columbia River near Government Island. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said Sheean was wakeboarding behind a boat when his tow rope wrapped around the propeller. He was pulled under the boat and sustained a traumatic head injury.
