Public Safety Professionals retreat hosting ‘Ohana Koa Luau’ fundraiser Aug. 24

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Bakersfield non-profit will be hosting a Luau-themed fundraiser to help raise funds for first responders dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Public Safety Professionals Retreat is hosting its third annual “Ohana Koa Luau” event on Saturday Aug. 24. to help fund two six-day retreats for first responders suffering from PTSD. The luau will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Stockdale Country Club.

‘Aug-Tober’ takes over Kern County

According to PSPR President Regina Pryor, the retreats give first responders, “the tools to have a successful life. Families of emergency workers can also benefit from the retreat as PTSD not only affects the individual but the family as a whole.
