Annual Greek Food Festival set for mid-October

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Annual Greek Food Festival is set for mid-October in downtown Bakersfield.

The Saint George Greek Orthodox Church is hosting its annual food festival from Oct. 11 to 13 at the Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Bakersfield at 401 Truxutn Ave. The church is located near the Amtrak station.

The festival will be filled with authentic Greek foods, such as Greek BBQ, Gyro Sandwiches, lamb shanks, feta fries, vegetarian fare, Greek coffee and more.

Live music, church tours and dance performances will be featured at the three-day festival, according to organizers.

Organizers say on Oct. 11 the festival is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday the festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday the festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission to the festival is $5 but children under 12 will enter for free. Organizers say a Bakersfield charity will receive a donation from the proceeds.
